OSS

Office of Strategic Services

Military intelligence founded after the raid on Pearl Harbor on order of F.D.Roosvelt, 13.6.1942. It was subordined to Joint Chiefs of Staff. It took over the work of COI (Central Office of Information) from 1941.
The most known OSS person was W.Donovan, who pursued the needs for centralization of intelligence and laid the basement for the formation of the CIA. The OSS was dismissed on 20th September 1945 by Pres. Truman, who believed, there'd be no duties for it to perform.
