Slovak Republic, but it's believed the service existed since the beginning of the federation in 1990. It's also said, that a long time
StB agent, A.Lorenc, played a key role in creating the structure. The tasks, functions and budget are quite secret and their statements about them are often confusing. Although, the government revealed the total budget, one billion crows (over 3 mil. USD) But it's also obvious that this budget is enlarged by unofficial grants. The director since 1993 was Ivan Lexa. His reign ended in 1998 after the change in the government and he was replaced by former chairman, I.Mitro. Lexa became a member of the National Council to gain political immunity and is believed to build up a parallel shadow secret service.
