Smert spionam
Terrorist commando in the
USSR, a division of Cheka and later the
NKVD. Formally founded first in 1942 under
V.Abakumov as military counter intelligence. Officially dismissed in 1946, but their activities lasted until mid-50s. The cruel way of doing it was slowly revealed by the testimonies of defectors (e.g. Khokhlov). Another way as they became known was the assassination of another defectors or escaped Russian people (L.Torkciy in Mexico). This way was later performed by the 5th branch of I.
KGB directorate.
