Statni bespecnost, State Security Service
According to the rules set by its foundation, it had to be a part of the SNB (National Security Corps) and investigate crime, anti-state activity and protect VIPs. After the year 1945 it slowly became the ruling hand of the Communistic Party. To secure its power even repressive and terrorist manners were used. Power of the Party and the Service was as big as the fear of the citizens. After 1989 this fear vanished and so did the StB. Officially dismissed on 15th February 1990 on order of Federal Inner Minister, Richard Sacher.Recommended books:
