KGB chairman
Became a close friend of L.Brezhnev and began to work for the KGB in the 50s. After Khrushchev's fall, he became the head of the personnel department. Since 1968 he was the secretary of KGB chairman and in 1982 he replaced Andropov. He was promoted to the rank of marshal of the USSR and became a member of the politburo. After Gorbachov's rise, Chebrikov tried to let the KGB look like hunting for communists in the offices, but he was called off in 1988 and V.Kryuchkov took his position.Recommended books:
