Dulles Allen Welch

(1893-1969)

CIA's DCI

He started as an embassy employee in Vienna during the First World War. And he became famous during Second World War as an OSS officer. He led the Bern central, where he came across the SIS chief. He discovered the espionage pearl - Fritz Kolbe. The British didn't trust him, but Dulles was able to use this source. He gained many V-2 rocket plans, he discovered the Ankara information leak (Cicero). He helped president Truman in the Potsdam negotiation in the issues about the Japanese in the Pacific. He became DCI in 1952. He used lot of his OSS experiences in the Cold War. After some blow-ups (F.G.Powers, Operation Gold, Bay of Pigs invasion) his career found its end in 1961.
