Gold Harry

(1910-1955)

American spy, active for USSR

Born Golodnostskiy. After his departure to the US he became more and more impressed by communism under the circumstances and the pressure of the economical crisis. He was contacted by the Soviets in 1935, when he was assigned a valuable position for them. Since 1941 was one of the best spies in the American network. 1944 he became the leading courier of the Yakovlev network (K.Fuchs, D.Greenglass). Till 1946 gained precious information in the rocket and atomic research.
After the arrestments in 1950s the trace came down to Gold himself. His testimony even worsened the situation of the Rosenbergs and he was jailed then for thirty years.
