East Germany spy
As the son of a doctor, who saved Willy Brandt's life in the war, he got easily into the cabinet in 1955. Here he was contacted by the STASI (in co-operation with the KGB, of course) and became a prolific information source. His value grew further after Brandt became chancellor and Guillaume got access to information directly from the headquarters and NATO highest positions. The BfV discovered the leaks pretty soon, but it took longer until Guillaume and his wife were convicted. Both were arrested in 1974. This affair forced W.Brandt to resign. Guillaume was exchanged for a couple of West German citizens arrested in East Germany. He left for Moscow later and got many decorations there.Recommended books:
