Studied at a technical seminary and learned Russian in the RAF. Later he was assigned to monitor the radio communication of the Eastern block. By that time, he began to post information to Russia.In 1968 he changed over to GCHQ. But he followed to cooperate with the Russians. There are two versions of his arrestment. According to the British, he was arrested due to sexual misuse of girls and by chance they found sensitive documents. The French say, his wife brought him to his commitment. Anyway. It's possible that his deviation was the reason for his co-operation with the other side. He was find guilty and jailed for 35 years. GCHQ undertook several controls and checks to prevent further leaks.
