Reached the post of Fleet Commander of the Allied Navy in Northern Europe. After the election of Jimmy Carter in 1977 was picked to be the new DCI. He introduced heavy controls which led to the dismiss of over 2,000 employees. That weakened the brain-trust of the organization and the CIA lost her good position. Again, he tried to pursue the idea of united intelligence. He was successful. Only the FBI was able to resist. After the election of R.Reagan, Turner was dismissed and W.Casey took his place.Recommended books:
