Worked at the Soviet embassy in Instanbul, Turkey. On 27.8.1945 conntacted the British vice-consul with the request for political asylum for him and his family, in exchange for sensitive data about Soviet spies in the UK. He had problems sending such an dangerous query and when he finally succeded he had drown enough attention to himself. To his pity, the contact had been given to K.Philby, who quickly arranged his departure to Turkey to debrief such a valuable asset. Even quicker he sent word to Moscow, which effectively meant Volkov's death. Soviets kidnaped him and his wife to Moscow, where he confessed, that he offered 314 names of Soviet spies for 50,000 pounds and asylum. After the interrogation, he was executed.Recommended books:
