The Savak (Iran intelligence and security service) mainly fought against the enemies and the opposition in their own house. Iraq tried to throw over the emperic regime and they were able to win the Savak director Bachtiar. He was discovered and eliminated. After the decision to sell oil to Israel, their services came near. The Israeli Mossad helped even to build up the service. But after thee fall of the emperor in 1979, the connections were cut. Savak was dismissed and all documents were destroyed.
After this the relations to Israel changed heavily. Iran is nowadays one of the biggest supporters of terrorists (Hisballah).
Along this, Afghanistan became to be very interesting for Iran. The support of at least one fraction there is known. Iran is interested in the affairs of Tagikistan and Asebrayjan, which belonged to Persia.
