The early years, after the World War the world found itself between the emerging superpowers which silently built up their antipathy during the war, but were united in the fight against a common enemy. As soon as the stage was wiped clean, Europe opened its curtains just to reveal another one, this time an Iron one...
The darkest stage of the Cold War. Stalin at the peak of his powers, the Russian Empire covered Eastern and Central Europe with its red cover, showing political, economical and even military power and presence. Western World concerned by the massive nuclear built-up of the other side, MacCarthyism strikes at the weirdest places in the US and the world finds itself at the edge of destruction. The superpowers are exploring the playground and thinking about winning this war.
The Cuban crisis. Killing of JFK. Technological advances publicly visible in space exploration make it apparent that this war came to a crucial point - to the point of no return, when the powers are so great that there can be no tommorow for mankind if the war is going to be waged. ICBMs become the buzzword. The smart ones begin to understand what will later be called MAD. After winning all what could be won in space and politics, Russia comes into serious troubles at the end of the decade. "New thinking" of "the Revolution" in Central Europe and final defeat in space exploration make it apparent that there is only one long-way player in this game. Socialism cannot keep up with capitalism.
